VISIT

The Arboretum is easy to reach by car. It is located in the locality of San Vicente, between the provinces of A Coruña and Lugo, 4 km from the crossroads between the A6 (Madrid-A Coruña) and A8 (Autovia del Cantábrico) motorways. It is a pleasant stopover when traveling in the north-east of Spain. The Northern Way to Santiago de Compostela passes through Baamonde.

One can visit the Arboretum at any time of the year. Spring and autumn are especially beautiful due to the flowering and spectacular colouring of many trees. The Arboretum is open to visitors:

Cell phone coverage

There is no telephone coverage at the Arboretum de Galicia. Don’t panic, you will survive it! If you need to make an emergency call go up to the top of one of the slopes and the signal will come. You won’t be able to download a movie, but you should be able to make a call…

Fire hazard

Villagers have no memory of fires in the Arboretum area... Regular cutting and cleaning work protects the ground from fire, as does planting cypresses within the most exposed limits, leaving firebreaks.

> But it is worth reminding some basic and important rules: the fire will always move upwards! In case of fire avoid the higher grounds and look for an exit following the stream that crosses the central part of the Arboretum.

First aid

There is a first aid kit under the small attic (Horreo Viejo).

Parking

Park your car in the esplanade of the church of San Vicente.

Elderly people, families with babies or people with reduced mobility can leave their car at the entrance.

All visits are free

The Arboretum de Galicia is a non-profit project, received no subsidies nor public or private financial support. If you want to contribute to the conservation and expansion of the Arboretum you can sponsor a tree.

The Arboretum has an extension of 15 hectares. You can follow a marked route with numbered stone poles (from 1 to 90) or move freely. The tour can last between two and three hours, it depends on your pace, but you can shorten it if you wish.
